Actions Over Words

Summary: If it weren't for hormones escalating small kisses into full-blown make out sessions, they would be comparable to an old married couple.

It was incredibly gross and disgusting, Izaya thought.

Actions over Words

When one saw Orihara Izaya and Heiwajima Shizuo separately, they would rightfully assume them to not be much for PDA. After all, neither of them seemed like the physically affectionate type, with Shizuo willingly keeping his distance from people to avoid accidentally hurting them, and Izaya being purposefully emotionally distant to most people.

Needless to say, it was always a surprise to see them when they were hanging out together, seeing as they were practically joined at the hip.

It wasn’t rare to find them on the school roof, Shizuo asleep with his head on Izaya’s lap, or Izaya sitting in Shizuo’s as he read those complex language and psychology books he was so fond of.

When not at school, they could often be spotted walking together in the streets of Ikebukuro, Izaya absent-mindedly clinging to Shizuo’s arm while he messed around on his phone, trusting his boyfriend to walk them to their destination safely.

All in all, not only were they physically affectionate, but they also were completely unembarrassed by it and, most importantly, they were very public about it. Hands were held, hugs were given, kisses were sneaked, and no fucks were given about the tutting grandmothers and old-fashioned salary men.

And, sure, some people would show disapproval at seeing those public displays of affection, but nobody dared to say that to their faces. Their respective appearances (a blonde delinquent with a permanent frown etched on his face, and a boy with eyes the color of blood that looked right through you as if to say “I know everything about you”) were usually a good enough deterrent, but the few braver people who dared tell them to stop never, ever tried a second time.

(Knives and fists made quite the dangerous combination, after all.)

However, their being so openly affectionate didn’t mean they were throwing around “I love you”s easily. Quite the opposite, actually, as they both believed actions spoke much louder than words. Those precious words were never heard in public, and were only very scarce in private. Despite this, neither doubted the other’s feelings; they liked each other, enjoyed hugging, kissing, and there simply was no need to prove it using words.

Hell, considering the fact they had been dating for only a few months, they were surprisingly stable for a couple of hormonal teenagers. If it weren’t for said hormones escalating small kisses into full-blown make out sessions, they would be comparable to an old married couple.

It was incredibly gross and disgusting, Izaya thought.

He loved it.
