Earth has changed, completely unrecognizable from before the Great Corruption.
But even so, life lingers.
What people call “the plains” is a huge wasteland that was ravaged by the Great Corruption. Nothing more than weeds grow there, and the only fauna you will find are monsters of all sorts. The easiest way to go from one settlement to another is through the plains, because they are at the center of it all. Even so, people tend to avoid the “easy route” because it is very perilous, and the flat terrain means that it is impossible to hide from monsters.
Nobody lives there aside from monsters. Some demons can be seen walking the plains from time to time, and one of them will even help travelers in need, but they don’t live there either.
In its center lies a mysterious hole, said to be the origin of all corruption. Nobody knows what’s inside because the corruption there is so thick that it makes everyone who approaches it sick.
Inside the crater, a single soul awaits.
The Blue Mountains are covered by an eerie blanket of blue, magically charged fog that lures monsters to it and makes them more aggressive. It is a very treacherous land riddled with feral monsters, and because of it, only the sturdiest and bravest people can survive there. Among those people are various packs of werewolves and the minotaurs of Turmafuran, a village carved into the mountains themselves. It is structured like a maze in order to keep undesirables away from the center of the village, where most of the villagers live. The only way to safely find your way inside is to be led in by one of the inhabitants. And atop the mountains live very aggressive harpies.
Once in a while, some adventurers will also appear in the land, but they are few and far in between.
The Carnivorous Forest got its name from the fact that many monstrous plants grow there. The plants themselves are enough of a threat that even other monsters avoid the place, and so nobody willingly walks in there unprepared.
The only known person living there is the herbalist Tetsuhiko, known for both his legendary elixirs and his insufferable personality. He is also responsible for the quick proliferation of those dangerous plants, as he treats the entire forest like his own freaky garden. Because of that, people sometimes call the Carnivorous Forest the “Cursed Greenhouse”.
A strange forest, isolated from the rest of the world that somehow managed to resist the corruption. The only pure place left on Earth.
A powerful magical field shields it from sight and keeps intruders away.
Laggion was constructed some time after the Great Corruption. Originally intended to be a camp for the demons investigating the cataclysm, it eventually grew into a village, then a city, and now a metropolis as more and more demons decided to move there and settle on Earth.
It is home to the Magic Institute of Laggion, which focuses on studying all the types of magic found on Earth, both before and after the Great Corruption.
Liotta is a small village of hardy bovine humanoids, situated at the edge of the plains, near the Carnivorous Forest (but not inside it). They are mostly woodworkers and farmers and are recognizable by their muscular builds.
Only a specific type of bovine humanoids live in Liotta, with mostly humanoid appearances but bovine traits like ears and tails. Some rarer individuals also have hooves instead of feet, but it is a rare occurrence.

Quallan is quite possibly one of the biggest cities in the new, corrupted world, with a population of multiple thousands and a very active economy. It is a safe haven for all people, regardless of species or origin.
Because of an event that caused a peaceful inhabitant to be revealed as a demon after a hunter attack, Quallan have started officially letting demons in as well, and have started regulating demon hunter activity in an effort to fight the stigma against demons. As of now, it is the only non-demonic city to openly welcome demons within its walls.
All species are welcome in Quallan, provided they don’t cause trouble for its inhabitants. It is a very diverse city that houses all sorts of people, including humanoids of all kinds, but also demons and a dragon.
Tiap-ne is a small city populated exclusively by reptile humanoids. Not much is known about it because they have stayed isolated for decades, but what is known is that its inhabitants are much more resistant to high levels of corruption than your average mutant. Many suspect it is because they are much more corrupted and thus more dangerous. For this reason, even adventurers avoid the place.
The Governor is the official ruler of this city, and their word is law. The current governor is Lord Ju-khe, father of the adventurer Khlian.
Multiple species live in Tiap-ne, and all have two things in common: their cold blood and scales. Provided you are let in, you will be able to see Naga, drakes (not to be confused with dragons), and various other humanoids with reptilian appearances.
